Arcangelo Corelli transformed the way instrumental music was conceived across the continent. His works were so successful that they were transcribed for all kinds of instruments, and many composers took him as the canon of perfection in instrumental writing. This programme is a journey that begins in Rome on 1 January 1700, with the publication of Corelli's violin sonatas, before moving on to France, the Netherlands and England to discover how Italian music was adopted and transformed in accordance with different national styles.
